Pipeline CWI welding
Inspects and oversees contractor work for the construction of pipelines and related facilities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and company requirements. Inspections are generally focused on a specific craft, task, or area of work.
The Construction Inspector documents construction activities, monitors contractor performance, verifies material compliance, and identifies deviations from project specifications, drawings, permits, and governing regulations. The role also supports a strong safety culture by participating in daily safety meetings and enforcing company safety programs.

Key responsibilities:
- Inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with: • Contract specifications
• Construction drawings • Applicable permits • Industry codes and standards • Company procedures
- Verify that craft work is performed according to approved specifications, plans, and applicable codes.- Observe work in progress to ensure:
• Proper construction procedures are followed • Approved materials are used • Quality standards are maintained
- Document daily construction and inspection activities.- Maintain daily inspection logs and compare project progress against contractor reports.- Record quantities of materials received and used during construction.- Identify and report deviations from:
• Specifications • Drawings • Permits • Governing regulations
- Notify the Chief Inspector of any construction deficiencies or non-compliance issues.- Prepare sketches of field installations that differ from approved drawings.- Collect samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing when required.- Inspect completed installations for quality and conformity with project standards before approval.- Interpret construction plans and specifications for contractors and discuss required corrective actions to ensure compliance.- Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings. Evaluate work areas for safe operating conditions and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Experience:
Required Experience -- Minimum5 years of oil and gas construction inspection or related industry experience.Preferred Experience -- 8 or more years of oil and gas construction inspection or related experience.
Required certifications:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Required Knowledge:
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code • Section IX – Welding and Brazing Qualifications- API 1104 • Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities- AWS D1.1 • Structural Welding Code – Steel- ASME B31 Series • Code for Pressure Piping
Required Technical experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in the following areas:- Visual inspection of welded joints- Destructive and nondestructive testing (NDT) • Test methods • Procedures • Equipment- Identification and evaluation of weld discontinuities- Welding: • Processes • Procedures • Inspection methods • Use of welding equipment- Interpretation of: • Design drawings • Pipe and fitting specifications • Welding filler metal specifications • Pipeline and related facility construction standards
