ACS Commissioning Engineer
The ACS (Automation & Control Systems) Commissioning Technician/Engineer is responsible for supporting the commissioning and start-up activities of the facility’s control systems, including the Distributed Control System (DCS), PLCs, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). This role involves overseeing loop checks, function testing, and participation in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in coordination with vendors and commissioning teams. The ACS Engineer will report to the Lead ACS Engineer or the Commissioning Manager.
Responsibilities:
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT):
• Participate in SAT with DCS/PLC vendors and Linde engineers.
• Validate configuration, control logic, interlocks, and alarm settings.
• Patching and verification of the control systems network.
• Witness and document SAT results and resolve punch list items.
System Readiness & Commissioning:
• Confirm readiness of control systems for energization and startup.• Assist with firmware updates, controller downloads, and HMI setup as required.• Monitor and troubleshoot control system behavior during startup and tuning.
Loop Checks & Signal Verification:
• Coordinate and execute loop checks for field instruments to control system I/O, ensuring accurate signal integrity.
• Troubleshoot wiring, signal conditioning, and termination issues
Function Testing Support:
• Support function testing of subsystems, including compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, analyzers, utilities, and interlocks.• Verify permissive sequences, shutdown logic, and control narratives against design documents.
Coordination & Documentation:
• Interface with instrument techs, vendors, and operations teams to resolve commissioning issues.
• Maintain detailed records of loop checks, test results, logic changes, and redlines for as-built documentation.
Qualifications:
• 3–7+ years of experience commissioning control systems in heavy industrial or gas facilities.• Hands-on experience with DCS/PLC systems (Rockwell, Emerson, Siemens)• Proficient in reading and interpreting control narratives, I/O lists, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings.• Proficient in TCP/IP Networking.• Strong understanding of field instrumentation, signal types, and calibration standards.• Familiar with control system safety procedures.
Preferred Certifications & Skills:
- Control system OEM training (Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, ABB, etc.)
- Knowledge of IEC 61511 or ISA 84 (SIS standards)
